Kiwi Matcha Mint Smoothie

This light green beauty is surprisingly bright in flavor! The tartness of the kiwi shines against the combination of herbaceous mint and earthy matcha. Matcha is a very special green tea of the highest quality that is powdered and then boiling water is whisked into it to create a frothy intense green tea experience. Matcha green tea powder can be added to smoothies to give you a boost of vital antioxidants with many health benefits. Matcha has been linked to alertness, immune system fortification and detoxification. Matcha has also been shown to boost the metabolism. What a great way to rev up your liquid meal then to add some matcha as a calorie burning boost. This smoothie can be made with either fresh or frozen kiwi. It is not necessary to use both. With just a few simple ingredients, this smoothie is not only easy to prepare it is a treat for your tastebuds too.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Fresh Kiwis (peeled and sliced OR)
  • 1 cup frozen kiwi
  • 1 scoop protein powder (use the protein powder you like best)
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 5 large fresh mint leaves (preferably organic)
  • 1 tsp matcha green tea powder (preferably organic)
  • 1/2 cup ice (if using fresh kiwi)

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to the pitcher of your blender. Make sure the lid is on securely. Blend the ingredients until thick and smooth approximately two minutes on high. Turn off the blender.
  2. Pour into a large glass and garnish with fresh mint or fresh kiwi or both. Enjoy!
